Hi, I'm Jonathan.

Once upon a time, I had a business blog. But that blog never got updated. Then I started working on UX Magazine, where I basically manage a blog for a living. And thus the business blog died—still never to be updated, and likely never to be remembered.

And yet with the blog's passing, a void was left in this domain. At long last, I have filled it. I have filled it with a gloriously simple brochure, certain to inform you, but unlikely to entertain you. While good user experiences may be the focus of my work, they are not, alas, something I'm able to create without professional help.

If you're hoping to get to know me, take a look through my bookshelf and see what causes I support. How I choose to categorize and fill my bookshelves, and how I choose to donate, will give you a better understanding of my interests than any bio blurb ever could.

(but here's a perfunctory bio blurb, anyway)

Short biography

I'm a tech-focused jack of all trades. Most of my professional experience has involved holding the line in a number of diverse functions while a company is too small to hire specialized professionals to handle any given area. This has meant that I've had my hands in almost every aspect of growing and managing a small business, including finance, accounting, legal, HR, marketing, IT, facilities, general operations, resource management, corporate governance, project management, and many other domains. I also have significant experience in writing and editing for business and online formats.

From 2005 to 2009, I helped found EffectiveUI, a leading UX strategy, design, and development agency focused on rich Internet, desktop, and mobile systems. My time at EffectiveUI gave me the opportunity to participate in work that's on the leading edge of software design and development, which is converging around an increasing attention to high quality user experience, around web-enabled or web-based software, and around technologies that can create unified experiences across multiple platforms, devices, and applications. I've built on this experience and the tremendous knowledge I gained in the field of UX through writing the book to turn my focus to UX Magazine. There I work to provide resources to industry professionals and businesspeople to help them understand the trends, technologies, and business rationales behind improving user experience in enterprise and consumer applications.
